It's over!

 

Yesterday was Seed People's Market's Last Saturday event. It was my first attempt at a craft fair with my aprons and other items. (I have done them before with my beanies.) That's me all set up at my table ready to sell aprons, beanies, ornaments and silhouettes.

I worked my butt off trying to finish what I considered to be enough merchandise to sell. All in all it was a great day. I learned a lot about myself and how I want to sell my products, mainly that I don't think craft fairs are for me. They require a lot of set up and preparation and although it's great to meet lots of people and hear what they think about your products I just don't think it's right for me. I would to do it maybe once or twice a year but not every weekend. I have a lot of respect for the people who do it every weekend! It's a lot of work.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported me and made purchases. I appreciate it more than you could ever know!

I have to give a special thank you to Mr. Coleman. He was the most supportive husband while I created and stressed before the event even helping me cut out fabric and price items and he was the biggest help during the event. I really could not have done it without him and I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful husband who believes in me. Thank you baby!

Aprons, aprons and more aprons!

I thought it might be fun to share the aprons I'm working on for the sale at Seed on Saturday. So here is the first one I've finished for today.

Isn't it lovely! I just love how it turned out. And I got another new dress form! This one stands alone and makes it so much easier to take photos. Thanks to my dad and Rhonda for always keeping an eye out and picking them up for me!

What just happened?

That's pretty much how I feel about the weekend. I keep looking back at the past four days thinking, "What just happened?"

After I got home from New Orleans on Thursday I had just enough time to take a short nap before our friends Dan and April arrived from Oakland. They arrived around 8:30, were picked up by our other friend April, (I know confusing,) came back to Long Beach picked up our friend Erin, (I know two Aprils and two Aarons/Erins!) and then met up here at our place. We were on a mission to go dancing at the 90's hip-hop and Top 40's night at a local bar. After swinging by and grabbing our friend Kelli we were off and running!

There we all are! The Oakland friends, sisters, LB besties and our two Aaron/Erins! We had a great time dancing the night away and walked home sweaty messes around 1:00 in the morning. Exhausted.

Friday wasn't much better. We sent our Oakland friends and April off after a pancake breakfast and then we were off to run errands. The biggest of these picking up my truck which my wonderful dad fixed while I was in New Orleans! Thanks daddy!

We ran and ran and ran until it was time to head to the rehearsal dinner. You see our friends Corre and Becky were getting hitched on Sunday and with Mr. Coleman in the wedding we were lucky enough to spend lots of time with them this weekend. After the rehearsal it was off to the Orange circle to hang out with Corre and our friends. We had a great time chatting it up with everyone it was here that Mr. Coleman became the original Hipster Cholo, or "holo." 

I know, I know, he's a dreamboat! We headed home around midnight because we were exhausted! Saturday we spent the morning doing homework and sewing. We headed back out to Corona later that day to celebrate our wonderful sister Lauren's birthday. We had teppan yaki, USC won and we got to hang out with Lauren and the fam. It was a great night.

Sunday was the wedding day! It was POURING rain here in Long Beach and we headed out around 12 towards the Corona/Riverside area. After a change in plans we had Mr. Coleman drop April and I off to our friend Jolene's house so we could get ready while he was off to do groomsman duties. We had a BLAST with Jo and headed out still in the pouring rain to the wedding but not before April put in her own "hola" efforts, Hipster Chola that is.

Yes, we are ridiculous but we always have fun! The wedding was no different. We got to see family and friends and most importantly we got to share in Corre and Becky's nuptials. It was a lovely wedding despite the rain and we are so happy for the LaNuevos!

It really was a lovely weekend although so jam packed I thought my head was going to explode! Our poor dogs were left alone so much that I really was starting to feel horrible, not to mention our little one tends to misbehave a bit when we are out, but luckily they were sweet little angels and needless to say they are happy to have us, well me, home today.

I wish I could just sit here and enjoy the day but I've got things to do! I'm participating in a sale this weekend for knitcole and I've got lots to do before Saturday. So forgive me if you don't hear from me but I will do my best to keep you posted on the goodies that I will be selling this weekend and in the future in my Etsy shop!

I've been everywhere man...

That was the view of Na'leans from my hotel room this morning. I'm very excited to be in New Orleans I only wish it would be for longer! I get to travel a lot for work and it's always to pretty awesome places. I mean I've been to Seattle, Boston, Chicago, Kansas City, DC and more! All kinds of really great places and in most of them I get to see the ride to and from the airport or the ride to and from work. Trust me, I'm not complaining I get to see some of places others never get to go to but sometimes I just wish it was for like a day longer!

Anyhow, while I'm here I'm trying very hard to be focused on doing what I can for knitcole. This means crocheting and editing photos and all kinds of craziness to get more things made ASAP! I'm pretty sure November is going to drain me of all of my sanity! Wish me luck!

Apples, apples and more apples.

It's been a crazy November here at the Coleman house so I figured I'd give you a little post about some apples. A couple of weeks ago we headed apple picking with the family at Oak Glen. We went last year and had a great time so I was excited to get some fresh Arkansas Black apples! It turned out to be REALLY busy up there and HOT. All in all it was a great day and I loved hanging out with our family especially this little guy, our nephew Jude.

I was talking to my Aunt Pammy about our apple picking and she told me that my cousin Sarah calls her unborn baby "Apples" since they don't have a name for her and she craves apples. With my recent trip to Oak Glen and Sarah's impending baby shower I was inspired to make her a couple original baby gifts. 

It started off with making a simple baby block. I overstuffed it a little making it a bit less block shaped but with the appliqued apple and "a" I still think it's pretty adorable. I also stuffed it with some crinkle paper. 

Then I decided I wanted to make her an apple. Using a beach ball inspired pattern I set out to make an apple, which originally looked like a tomato! So I had to remove a couple pieces to make it round again and now it looks more like an apple! Stuffed with bells this one jingle jangles just enough.

Then I thought this sweet little girl needs a little apple to look at while she's hanging in her crib playing with her apple toys. So I made her this nifty silhouette.

It was a lot of fun to make some less conventional baby toys. I hope little Apples, or whatever her name actually ends up being, loves them!

A narwhal and a jellyfish walk into a bar...

When I found out my friends Grayson and Heather were pregnant I was so extremely excited for them. I know they will be great parents and that their baby Myles will be a one of a kind, hilarious person just like both of his parents.

Inspired by Life Aquatic Heather decided on a 1970's nautical style for the Myles' room. I learned that Heather's favorite animal is a narwhal so I decided that it would be my goal to figure out how to make that happen in a custom plushie. I actually was really happy with how he turned out.

I decided that he needed a little sea creature friend so I made a jellyfish! Heather and Grayson are about the only people who I knew could appreciate his quirkiness and I will most likely never make another jelly like this one. He makes me laugh everytime I see him!

Since they live in Washington I decided to top it all off with a sweet little beanie to keep his head warm this winter.

Myles will be here in early December and I can't wait to see his little face and if he has red hair! I just know Heather and Gray will be great parents and I'm so excited for them both .

Home is where your heart is.

When my friend Lindsey's birthday happened I was out of town celebrating my anniversary while she was house sitting my sweet little pups. I was so bummed that I was missing her surprise birthday celebrations but it was unavoidable. Since she is ALWAYS there when Mr. Coleman need her to house sit, she takes such great care of our babies AND because she is an absolutely wonderful friend to me I wanted to make sure she felt loved and celebrated on her special day even if we weren't physically there.

I decided on a house silhouette for her because Lindsey has had some challenges with finding a permanent living situation. She is in no way homeless but I know all of the moving has been challenging for her and I wanted her to know that no matter where she is physically, home is what we make of it in our hearts. I love Lindsey dearly and I'm glas she really liked her sweet little gift!
