There have been several days over the past week when I have just wanted to RIP MY HAIR OUT!!!
Creating a website that is everything that you want it to be is not easy. I have never claimed to be an amazing web designer or anything like that, it has been a very long, very tedious learning process for me and I am definitely nowhere near even slightly knowledgeable at this point. But last Friday I officially thought I was going to actually cry my eyes out over it all and just forget about it.
It all started a couple of months ago when I asked the AWESOME Kaelah to design some web stuff for me. She did a fantastic job with my background, banner and buttons! I highly recommend her to anyone who might need some help designing some features for a blog or website.
So she designs these amazing things for me despite the fact that she had finals and was a victim of the Nashville floods, (like I said she is AWESOME,) and we get to the point where all there is left to do is post the background and...it's not really working the way she likes. It appeared that my previous Wordpress blog just wasn't going to cut it for what I needed...so we start looking at other sites and I land here at TypePad. The interface is great and it's got everything I need to get my background all situated so I begin the process of changing everything over...and then it happened.
Friday...
First - I killed my Wordpress blog. DEAD! Let me preface this by saying that I had NO INTENTIONS of killing my old blog. I hadn't really decided what to do with it but well no worries because fate decided for me! I killed it dead and there will be no recovering any of those posts.
Second - I have to change the DNS name for my site since I am moving it from Wordpress to TypePad. This is not really technically an issue but more like an inconvenience which results in my having to open support ticket #1 with my hosting company.
Third - I killed my "nicole@knitcole.com" email. This is the email I use for all things knitcole related and with support ticket #2 with my hosting company to make knitcole.com my primary domain, (I also own nicoleguthary.com which used to be the primary,) they tell me to remove knitcole.com as my secondary domain...well this killed my email account. (Which I'm pretty sure my hosting company should have known and informed me of BEFORE telling me to remove it.) Since I was interacting with my hosting company for both of my open tickets using my nicole@knitcole.com email account I then open support ticket #3 because without my email I can't locate ticket #1 or #2 and therefore am no longer interacting with anyone about anything that could possibly help me.
So many hours later it all FINALLY got situated. I couldn't even look at my computer for two days I was so frustrated but eventually I got back online and with a little more help from the amazing Kaelah I got a couple other things squared away and now here I am.
The site is finally mostly situated! There will be some more changes but for the most part it's set. I still have some formatting to play around with and to get some pages up but it's a great start! Any feedback that you have on the site would be greatly appreciated. I'm always looking for constructive criticism.
Until next time!
Nicole
